| On June 26, 2010 the Hecktown Volunteer Fire Company participated in the Four County Fireman's Parade hosted by the Slatington Fire Department and the Diamond Fire Company of Walnutport. After a week of hard work cleaning the apparatus and answering numerous calls, units 5312, 5331, and 5341 left Station 53 at 0900 for the trip to Slatington. After registering all the apparatus, we were directed to the Northern Lehigh High School for photos and judging. After judging, units were staged until the 1400 start time. While in staging, members had the opportunity to check out the apparatus and visit with other fire departments from across the region. Many positive comments were received from members of other departments as well as numerous compliments from the spectators along the parade route regarding the functionality and appearance of the Station 53 units. The day concluded with a fair at the Diamond Fire Company were entertainment was provided by a local DJ and a live band. We're proud to announce that Engine/Rescue 5312 received 2nd place for most functional Pumper/Rescue and 2nd place for Best Appearing Company with 20 members or less. The officers and members of Station 53 would like to thank the Slatington and Diamond Fire Companies for hosting the Four County Parade. We would also like to thank Northampton County stations 14(Nancy Run), 27(Palmer Municipal Fire Department , and 50(Vigilance Fire Company of Nazareth) for providing coverage while our units attended the parade. |
