The Heckotwn Volunteer Fire Company took delivery of 26 MSA G1 self-contained breathing apparatus on February 17, 2020. The new SCBA will replace the SCOTT air packs that have been in use for many years. The units feature state of the art electronics, heads-up displays, greatly improved voice amplification, and integrated thermal imaging cameras. The packs are powered by rechargeable batteries which provide longer service life and improved reliability.

Department members received training on the use and care of the units on Monday, February 23 with additional training to follow in the coming weeks.

A portion of the cost of the new units came from a PA state gaming grant, with the majority of the funding provided by Lower Nazareth Township. Updates will follow as training continues and the units are placed in service.
