On October 14, at 0739hrs, the Hecktown Vol. Fire Co. was dispatched to provide mutual aid to Hanover Station 15 at the scene of a dwelling fire on Airport Rd.
Engine 5312 responded with staffing of 5. Upon arrival, the crew of 5 were assigned to the manpower pool, and shortly thereafter assigned to relieve firefighters involved in exterior fire suppression. During fire suppression activities, it was determined that fire suppression was being hindered by the heavy growth of brush and trees close to the dwelling. The Hecktown crew was then assigned to clear brush and trees from the vicinity of the dwelling in order to have a clearer line of sight for fire suppression.
The Hecktown crew was then assigned to ensure roof stability of the first floor overhang so that roof operations may commence. The crew first checked for fire extension in the first floor ceiling. After determining there was no fire extension, the crew proceeded to the roof for fire suppression.
