By Fire Chief Jeffrey Seip
March 16, 2010

The HVFCo and Nancy Run Fire Fire Company of Bethlehem Township were alerted at 04:41 hours for a dwelling fire at 4209 Eisenhower Drive in Lower Nazareth Township. The caller reported that the dwelling was filling with smoke and that the smoke appeared to be coming from the heating vents. 5351 (Chief Seip) responded to the scene and established the 53 Command. Upon investigation, 5351 found the first floor of the dwelling charged with smoke. Engine 5312 responded with staffing of 4. The crew stretched one 1 3/4" line to division one and proceeded to search the dwelling with the TIC. Tanker 5331 and Rescue 5341 followed 5312. Truck 1421, command 1443, and operations 1444 made the response from station 14. 5312's crew determined the source of the smoke to be a fire that had self extinguished in an air handling unit in the basement. Crews from both stations were assigned to check for extension and ventilation.
