Engine / Rescue 5312 returned to service on August 12 after a complete refurbishment of the pump and controls. The work was performed at the 4Guys plant in Meyersdale, PA. The original electric / hydraulic controls and valves were removed and replaced with Elkhart electric valves with digital gauges. The entire pump was re-plumbed and new panels and storage compartments were added on both sides of the pump housing. The original interior diagrammatic pump panel was also replaced with an updated version reflecting the addition of an bumper line and reconfiguration of the cross-lays. A new Foam Pro foam system was also installed which allows for greater flexibility in the application of the 100 gallons of class B foam carried on board.
Thank you to everyone at 4Guys for the attention to detail required for this refurbishment and to Bob Pursell at Commonwealth Fire Equipment for assisting with the arrangements and logistics of the project. We are very pleased to be able to extend the life of this piece of apparatus for years into the future.
