| Engine / Rescue 5312 returned to service last week after 9 weeks off for paint and body work. 5312 was placed in service in 1993 and has been the work-horse of the department ever since. 5312 responded on all rescue calls as well as most fire calls in Lower Nazareth Township up until the delivery of our newest piece of apparatus, Rescue / Engine 5341. 5341 has taken over the rescue and RIT responses from 5312.
5312 is a Spartan/Sauslbury constructed by the Saulsbury Company at their plant in New York. The unit is equipped with a 1500 gpm pump, 900 gal. water tank, 100 gal. foam tank, Hurst rescue equipment, and a wide variety of other fire and rescue equipment. 5312 replaced a 1962 American LaFrance engine and took over most of the responses from a 1971 Ford/Imperial rescue unit. Since the purchase of 5312, the call volume for our department has doubled with more commercial and residential development to come.
Special thanks to Gustafson & Son Truck Bodies for their outstanding paint and body work and to DANZ lettering for the excellent job on the lettering and striping. All work was completed on time and on budget. We're sure that 5312 will continue to serve our department well into the future. |
