At 1355 the HFCo. #1 was dispatched to a reported vehicle fire on Presidential Drive (later updated to a Hecktown Road address). Initial reports of a working motor home fire were confirmed by multiple calls to the NC 911 Center. 5351 (Chief Seip) responded to the scene and confirmed a large header visible from about 2 miles out. 5351 requested station 14 (Nancy Run) be placed on stand-by for a possible response. Upon further updates from NC 911 of extension to a 3 car garage, 5351 requested a full response from station 14 and station 27 (Palmer Municipal FD) be placed on stand-by. 5351 arrived on scene, established 53 command and confirmed a fully involved motor home with extension to the structure. Engine 5312 responded with a staffing of 6 followed by Tanker 5331. 5312's crew stretched 1-1 3/4" line to the motor home and 1-2 1/2" line to the garage. 5331 along with engines 1413 and 1412 supplied 5312. The fire was placed under control in less than 15 minutes with all personnel working. Engine 2713 relocated to Presidential Drive to provide coverage for 53's area.
