By Fire Chief Jeffrey Seip
April 10, 2009

The Hecktown Volunteer Fire Company #1 is proud to announce that we have received funding from two grant programs to upgrade our self contained breathing apparatus. In November 2008, $49,875.00 was recieved from the Fire Act Grant administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. This funding allowed us to purchase 10 Scott 4.5 SCBA and 20 45 min. carbon fiber wrapped cylinders.
In January a grant for $11,367.68 was recieved from the Volunteer Fire Company Grant Program administered by the State Fire Commissioner's Office. This funding allowed us to purchase 4 additional SCBA. The Hecktown Volunteer Fire Company Fireman's Relief Association provided the remaining funding to complete the purchases for both programs.
Commissioner Ed Mann visited Fire Station 53 prior to attending the Northampton County Fire Chief's Association Meeting on April 9, 2009. The Commissioner posed for pictures and answered questions on a variety of issues concerning the fire service in Pennsylvania. The HVFCo.#1 would like to extend our thanks to Commissioner Mann for taking time out of his busy schedule to meet with us.
